How does Filterra^® Roofdrain Work? The Filterra Roofdrain System works just like a standard Filterra; however it treats rooftop runoff from downspouts/roof leaders directly into the Filterra unit. Pollutants are captured and immobilized in the container where they are then decomposed, volatilized and incorporated into the biomass of the system’s micro/macro fauna and flora. Stormwater continues to flow through the media and into the underdrain system, where treated water is discharged. Higher flows bypass the bioretention treatment via an overflow/bypass pipe system.
