Filterra® Bioretention Systems Receives Business Achievement Award in Technology Merit from Environmental Business Journal

January 12, 2009 – Ashland, VA – Filterra® Bioretention Systems, a division of Americast Inc., announced today that it has received a Business Achievement Award from the Environmental Business Journal (EBJ) in the Technology Merit category of water/wastewater for the development of the Filterra Stormwater Bioretention System as an alternative to pipe and pond based stormwater management systems.

The Filterra Bioretention System is an advanced high-flow stormwater treatment technology that combines landscape plants with an engineered filtration media to effectively capture and remove stormwater runoff pollutants, such as trash and debris, oils and grease, sediments, nutrients, metals and bacteria prior to discharging treated runoff into local waterways.

“We are honored to have received the EBJ Business Achievement award; it represents our accomplishments for the development of an effective stormwater treatment technology,” said Terry Siviter, General Manager, Filterra Bioretention Systems.

The EBJ Business Achievement Awards recognize technology innovation and performance within the environmental industry. The 2008 EBJ Business Achievement Award winners were determined by a committee of EBJ staff and EBJ advisory editorial board members. Business Achievement Awards will be presented in February at the Environmental Industry Summit.
